Hi, I’m Tara!

Artist, Designer and Founder of Wingspan Studio.

Tara Edwards Art at Melville Open Studios with Teddy boy.

I’ve always sat somewhere between innate creativity and learned structure. With a background in cartography and drafting, part of my brain naturally thinks in maps, systems, and clean lines. The other part works more like an artist - intuitive, exploratory, and guided by what feels right as much as what looks right. I use design to bring these two worlds together.

I think one of the gifts of growing older is being able to look back and recognise our patterns: all the differences that frustrated us back then, we can see now how they have shaped us. Likewise with the similarities between what we have achieved and where we are today. This perspective gives me the ability to integrate the chapters of my career, and to offer something that is unique and true.

This is the combination I bring to every project: clarity and creativity, structure and soul. My aim is to help you identify the underlying thread in your ideas and translate it into a clear, unified direction for your brand or business.

I love that moment when a client sees their design and they’re genuinely shocked in the best way. That little gasp, the “oh my god, this is so me.” I aim for that reaction every single time.

And if it doesn’t happen, I go back and try again. It’s not something you can fake; it either lands or it doesn’t. Whether we’re meeting face‑to‑face or working online, I want the absolute best for you and your business. I’ll keep refining until you feel that spark - the one that makes you smile without even realising it.

Wingspan was born from a desire to make great design affordable and accessible to anyone. Our logo features a figure with arms outstretched beneath a radiant Perth sunset. It was designed to reflect how I want every client to feel - welcomed, empowered, and successful.
